Part 8: Creating a custom indicator

Creating Custom Indicators

When an indicator cannot be found in the Global Indicator Library, users can create a custom indicator for their own organization.

Custom indicators will not be visible or tracked by other organizations unless they are linked via "Organization Network."

To create a custom indicator, select “Custom Indicators” from the navigation bar on the left and click, ‘Add new.’

Basic details of a custom indicator

At the "Basic details" step, users will be able to customize the basic information of the indicator, such as its

  • Name

  • Identifier (for easier referencing), limited to 20 characters

  • Applicable from date

  • Description (Optional)

  • Reference citations (Optional)

  • Topic

Click 'Next' to proceed to the next step, "Indicator Type."

In the following page, the user defines the indicator type, and all related attributes.

Quantitative:

  • Type of Unit

  • Unit of measure

  • Min and Max value

Qualitative:

  • No additional attributes required

Quantitative (multi-select) - Indicators that allow multiple choice selected from dropdowns

  • Category type - where the dropdown options will derive from

If users require further breakdown of the indicator into granular categories, they can select "This indicator is categorized by:". They will then be required to select the desired category for the breakdown.

Lastly, click on "Review" to review all the attributes of the indicator before confirming.

Configuring and Tracking Custom Indicators

After the custom indicator has been created, users can track them across their business areas by clicking 'Configure' at each respective custom indicator's entry on the list.

Click on 'Configure' to begin the process of tracking these custom indicators
